I don't know if there is some type of bug which is leaving it running untill you restart, but it doesn't seem to currently take much of any resources.īeing that there is issues with the recent monthly updates and this was just prior to it it could be a bug which is keeping it running. It appears that the setup.exe file in the Windows 10 i.s.o. It doesn't seem to have any documentation for it and virustotal shows it appeared in the wild on 9th of September and people have been submitting checks on it since, but its checking out as a official file. What I don't know and can't find any info on is why it runs and why it seems to keep running after a definition/intelligence update. It says it was created on 9th of September like other people have noticed and I think its been pushed through with a defender update. Virustotal confirms its a official microsoft file and its digitally signed the same, I to was concerned it was some new malware of some type as the long name + shield icon out of no where seems rather susipicious.
